The Masterpiece
As the sun glows atop the willow trees near the end of a new day, the sky is blue and gold and orange as it blankets the earth abound.
The pastel foliage of the dogwood trees are brushed with pink and white, nestled beneath the green hue of trees towering over them with delight.
In awe of the creator of this masterpiece my heart aches to feel the beauty my eyes behold.
I embrace the warmth of color; the pink, the blue, the orange, the gold.
Glory to the one who orchestrates this beauty when I see, the rose-red floral bracts found on the flowering dogwood tree.
And as the moon cast its light on the eve of a new day, the fragrant colors of spring embrace tranquility in the air.
I fall to restful slumber and breathe the essence of no despair.
There is a masterpiece surrounding us giving hope for all to share.

Below is the first poem I wrote and the title poem for the book "This is Life". I couldn't sleep that night, six years ago, because the words would not let go of my mind. I tossed and turned, and then had to get up to write it down. Twenty minutes later, I had it, "This is Life", and then went into my newborn's nursery to watch her sleep for a while. The book, "This is Life" was published five years ago, and out of print for four years to date, but the poems are still dear to my heart and food for my soul and continue to inspire me each day, including my new publication for children "You Make Me Want to Sing" (Music Stories).
This is Life,
this is love,
I thank God in heaven
for you above.
You are an angel,
pure as snow,
and as you age
your soul will glow.
You'll cut, you'll bruise,
you'll hurt, I know,
God give me the wisdom
to help you grow.
And when I die,
the rivers will flow,
the sun will shine,
the grass will grow.
You will be strong,
with heart so true,
filled with lessons
I taught to you.
You're never alone,
you never will be,
I've prayed for angels
to watch over thee.
This is life,
this is love,
in heaven with God,
watching you from above.

Thistles and Blue Springs is the site's theme and below is the poem that inspired the photography. I do hope you enjoy the gallery.
Thistles and Blue Springs
Away I go to the clear blue springs
where the wind is calm,
and thistles are clouds that I stand upon,
where my mind is free to be.
Where the children play,
on a lovely day and apple blossoms fill the air,
pure goodness shines from heaven's door,
and on this earth is hurt no more.
Then a thistle pricks my mind,
and stole this time,
and again I have to run,
where fragrant blossoms flowing,
keep safe my mind from knowing,
not every child is there.
The thistle looms to ensure I see,
children's hurt beyond this tree.
Where do I go from here?
Every child is part of me,
chasing blossoms from the apple tree,
and wishing wishes to come.
Not every child is here.
The time is yet for Glory's reign to part from heaven's door.
Until that time while the thistles blow,
release my mind to a place to go,
where earth is pure once more.
Away I go to the clear blue springs,
where the wind is calm.
Thistles are clouds that I stand upon.
Nothing stings and my mind is free to be
where nothing - nothing - will harm us there.
